That may be a presumptuous statement to make but after reading this article thoroughly, theres a good chance that youd agree to make that statement as well.

But first, lets get down to the basics.

Cebu, as mentioned, is in the Philippines. Now, when you mention the Philippines, its either Manila or Boracay — those are the first places to come to your mind. But we assure you that Cebu is as good as both those places. Better yet, theres no need to pass through other cities in the Philippines just to get to Cebu. As one of the major ports of the country, Cebu is even directly accessible from other countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong, China.

Since Cebu is highly urbanized, tourists have no need to worry about where to purchase toiletries and other necessities because there are department stores and 24-hour convenience stores strategically located all over the city.

But enough about that and lets get directly to the good stuff.

The Olango Wildlife Sanctuary should always figure prominently in a tourists travel plan to Cebu, Philippines. In this sanctuary, tourists would able to catch a glimpse of different species of migrating birds coming from places as far as China and Siberia. Based on studies made of this natural phenomenon, these birds choose Olango as a wintering ground and a way to increase their fat reserves before they resume flight.

Cebus Fort San Pedro is the oldest tri-bastion fort in the Philippines. Built in 1565, its 8-foot thick walls and 30-foot tall tower bore witness to several wars, not the least would be World War II, in which it served as barracks for American soldiers.

Casa Gorordo Museum is also one of the well-loved destinations of tourists once they arrive in Cebu. Taking a tour of this well-kept museum is like stepping into another time and era, thanks to the lovely antique furniture on display and the conservation of residential features from the old days such as the magnificent courtyard.

And speaking of Gorordo, make sure that you visit 415 Gorordo Avenue in Lahug, Cebu City because that is the address of the Sala Piano Museum. In this museum, youd be able to a see a collection of about hundreds of pianos of different shapes and sizes.

Lastly, theres the Kawasan Falls in Matutinao, Badian. The sight of this majestic waterfall would no doubt make you think how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world.

Holidaying at home has never been so popular. With the decrease in family and individual budgets many people are choosing to stay at home and seeing what UK camping holidays have to offer.

Camping today no longer has to mean limited facilities, soggy tents and unhappy campers – UK campsites have been given a make-over. Campsites now offer holiday makers a home-from-home experience offering more shower and bathing facilities, outdoor BBQ and picnic spaces, and onsite cafes and restaurants offering local and home cooked food – perfect for people needing a break from the old routine.

For holiday goers who are too posh to pitch, glamping has now become an option. Glamping (glamorous + camping) takes camping to a higher level. From options to stay in gypsy caravans, tipis, yurts, double decker bed buses and caravan pods campers are now spoilt for choice. Glamping gives holiday makers the option to just turn up, settle with a drink and enjoy the holiday. Tipis and yurts are great options for friends and families and often offer separate sleeping quarters. This gives a fun communal experience but with the added bonus of some privacy. Some yurts even have king-size beds and the added bonus of sky lights so you can snuggle up whilst you enjoy the blanket of stars.

For the more eco conscious amongst us many campsites have gone back to nature and are now sustainable. In the hope to reduce their carbon footprint many offer alternatives to fossil fuels – solar power to heat hot water for showers, wood burning for cooking facilities and compost toilets to reduce water wastage.

Campsites are now ‘designed for accessibility’ and ensure all improvements are made with their disabled customers in mind. Wash rooms have been adapted for wheelchair users and many caravans are now wheelchair accessible. Many campsite owners go out of their way to make sure that their disabled guests have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. It’s therefore worth checking campsite reviews online or contacting the campsite direct and ensuring your pitch is as close to the amenities.

Dubai gets known worldwide not only due to its modern infrastructure, but also because of the marvelous building feats it periodically keeps on taking up. The world’s first ever seven star hotel got erected upon and established only on Dubai’s shores. One of the most exciting Marinas of today’s time is also being developed across the same sea front these days; another feather in a long list of Dubai’s landmarks. There is more to talk about nowadays though, as the world’s tallest building is also getting shaped up at the same location now. The soaring tower, named Burj Dubai, has some amazing stats and facts to speak of. Some of these are being listed and discussed below.

The tower is about to be built in the middle of a man-made lake, which when filled with water will provide the architecture a picturesque setting. The building will carry some influences of the Islamic architecture as well so as to keep Dubai’s heritage alive. For example the triple-lobed footprint of the building is stated to be based on an Arabian flower. At the same time, some onion shaped domes are also being made part of the building’s exteriors. Developers are no doubt aiming to provide this latest of Dubai’s landmarks with a blend of the modern and Islamic outlooks both.

According to the plans, a public observation area and a private club are expected to get located at the building’s top. Initially designed to have three decker elevators, the building will now carry only two decker elevators when completed in 2008. The last of the residential apartments will be constructed at the floor number 109th, while an observation area will be made available to the public on 124th. The whole structure is to be rotated about 20 degrees so as to make it withstand the stress being caused due to the Arabian sea winds. The plinth of tower goes 50 meters below the earth’s surface, with a staggering amount of steel and up to 45,000 cubic meters of concrete dumped in there.

Despite Burj Dubai’s external similarities with that of the Sears Tower, it stands way different in the structural terms. The building’s earlier plans involved getting designs borrowed from Grollo Tower, which was proposed several years back at Melbourne. However, it subsequently got replaced by Skidmore Owings & Merrill with the present structure. Burj Dubai will not only be the tallest building, but also the tallest man-made structure, when fully completed. The total number of floors expected are around 162. There is no word on the building’s final height as of now, but it might stay around the 800 meters mark.

Dubai’s economic clout has been rising rapidly in the recent years, and the projects like Burj Dubai are just a testimony to the same phenomenon. The world’s tallest man-made structure, as they might call it, would only be an addition to the list of so many landmarks already built there. There seems to be no end of Dubai’s dreams now, as its skyline gets crowded with each passing moment.

If you looked on the various news headlines emerging from the Middle East, you will notice a substantial shift taking place in the manner they have been reporting about this region as a whole. From various military coups to the stories of political vendetta; from gun totting hostage takers to the unnerving interpretation of Islam; and from the so-called lack of democratization to the non existent human rights, the Middle East has always had to bear the brunt of hostile news reporting. But, the emerging trade and commerce and tourism activities in Dubai are fundamentally changing this long held stereotyped interpretation of the Muslim world now.

Don’t be surprised therefore, if the British footballer David Beckham and the Spice Girl Victoria are seen walking out of one of its famous five star hotels, or if the reigning formula one champion Michael Schumacher is spotted unwinding somewhere on its breathtaking shorelines. You will also come to notice some very famous names from the corporate world making regular rounds of this famous city. From top cine stars to sports celebrities and from the multi-billion empire holders to the average holiday making freaks, all are increasingly being seen on Dubai’s soil these days. This in itself, speaks a lot of how dramatically the world’s vision of the Middle East has transformed.

The next round of Dubai Tennis Championships to be held in February and March 2007 will be another treat for the tennis lovers and the media managers both. Names like the William sisters – Serena and Venus and Andre Agassi have played on this venue and enthralled the audiences in the recent past. Equally reported have had been the events like a friendly match organized between Andre Agassi and Roger Federer on the helipad of Burj Al Arab hotel. Tennis balls kept falling down inside the Arabian sea as the two players proceeded with some of their favourite strokes. Not too behind was Tiger Woods who made use of the same helipad for his golf practice. Woods was in Dubai to take part in the Dubai Desert Classic and couldn’t resist the temptation of practicing on such a breathtaking height.

If the celebrity spotting has become one of the new trends in Dubai’s social life, then so is the emerging competition among the hotel owners for making the best out of this pulsating market. They are making all efforts, like building of more niche hotels, to cap this upscale clientele. This means exclusively targeting the business travellers and the multimillionaires from across the globe. Apart from Dubai, Lebanon and Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt have also been trying to raise their stakes. However, the former is well ahead in the race involving these three.

Dubai’s desire of opening its borers to the outside world has been well received and reciprocated by the latter. As a result we are witnessing the very fundamental image of the Middle East taking a new turn in the global environment. By allowing so many expatriates on its soil, Dubai has made its friendly intentions clear. Expatriates will continue on playing a crucial role in the local economy, hence making the exchange of the Arabian peninsula with the outside world stronger. It speaks of a pleasing scenario, which will continue to get on more shades with each passing day.

Thunder Bay is one of the more beautiful protected areas along Lake Huron. To enjoy the area, you need to find a Thunder Bay vacation rental. Fortunately, there are some excellent choices.

Thunder Bay Vacation Rentals

Thunder Bay is in an area that encompasses part of northern Michigan, called the Sunrise Side. Situated on Lake Huron, this area is known for its wilderness atmosphere and the small islands that dot the area. The Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge protects many of these islands.

Also located here is the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Wildlife Preserve. This preserve, close to the Thunder Bay lodgings in the area, is a great spot for a family vacation. While here, you can visit the Maritime Heritage Center, which houses much information about Thunder Bay and Lake Huron’s boating history. Thunder Bay is also a great area for fishing and taking picturesque hikes. Make sure to follow all the wildlife sanctuary rules, and you’ll have a great time.

Of course, when you are in Thunder Bay, you will need a place to stay. If you are in need of a Thunder Bay rental that is secluded and private, look no further than Hillman, Michigan. Thunder Bay Golf and RV is the spot in this area. This vacation destination is a haven for golfers, as there is a golf course right in the resort, as well as four others located nearby. Thunder Bay isn’t all about golf and related pursuits because you can go on rides to search for hunt and elk. Available for those who enjoy more time indoors is a quilter’s retreat, which lasts four days and three nights, and includes workshops, teaching seminars and demonstrations of the quilting craft. Spa treatments can be added to your quilting package, or any other stay here, making it a great place for some rest and relaxation.

The biggest town/city on Thunder Bay is Alpena, Michigan. If you choose to stay in Alpena, you have the advantage of being located near a town, yet still far enough away from city life. One destination worth taking a look at is the Big Bear Lodge on US Route 23 in Alpena. This lodge has the authentic feel of a northern Midwest cabin, but is also close enough to Thunder Bay that you can walk to the beach! Big Bear Lodge offers remodeled rooms, a continental breakfast and optional tours to make your stay here relaxing and full of fun.

No matter which Thunder Bay vacation rental you choose, you will be sure to have a wilderness filled, relaxing and family oriented good time!

I have lived in Paphos for a few years now and after the euphoria of living in the sun, going to the beach, seeing the sea every day and watching fabulous coastal sunsets every night, had settled to an acceptable level, I then discovered that Paphos has so much more to offer.

Don’t get me wrong, all of the above still excite me beyond belief and the Med lifestyle is all it is cracked up to be, but behind the mask of simply being a tourist attraction, offering all that the discerning holiday maker could be looking for, there is another face to Paphos. Not many visitors will see or experience this face because they are taking a break from their daily lives and looking for fabulous beaches, water sports, great restaurants and total relaxation. But, I have found out what is going on in the background.

Cyprus is an extremely interesting place for nature lovers. Paphos is home to a very rare and very shy wild sheep called the Moufflon that has magnificent curving horns. These heraldic animals, although roaming wild, can be seen at the forestry station in Paphos forest (Stavros tis Psokas). Another delight is that the island has visiting Loggerhead and Green turtles that come ashore to nest every year on the sandy beaches around Paphos. These marine turtles are strictly protected and if you do decide to venture further afield than the local sunbathing beaches and seek out the areas of unspoilt wilderness, you may come across frames on the beach which warn you of a turtle nest and kindly ask you not to disturb. I have also found that many University students studying marine biology spend their holiday time here helping out with the research into these fabulous marine creatures. What a holiday!

Cyprus is also heaven for bird watchers. The island has become a stop over for many migratory birds on their travels from Europe to Africa during the autumn and back again in spring. More than 300 different bird species have been seen and recorded and the island has two endemic species which are often seen in the coastal regions, which are the Cyprus Pied Wheatear and the Cyprus Warbler. One of the islands larger varieties of bird is now very much under threat and conservationists battle hard to save it from extinction. The Griffin Vulture was once a common sight on the island but now their numbers have dwindled to less than 50.

So to those of you that have visited before and enjoyed your summer holidays in Cyprus, why not try an autumn or sprint visit. Most of the tourists have returned home and the beaches once again become the domain of our wildlife. You will of course have to make an effort as not all these areas are easily accessed and the areas around Paphos, namely the Akamas Peninsula, can only be accessed by four wheel drive. This will be a unique experience that you will take home and treasure. Imagine walking a beach with no sun beds, no shops, no noise apart from the surf and often nobody else but you! Enjoy the fresh air, the scenery and the forests and keep an eye out for the elusive Moufflon. Then, before leaving our wonderful wilderness find yourselves a comfortable place on the rocks or lay that blanket on the beach and experience some of the best sunsets in the Mediterranean. Paphos behind the mask is a memorable place!

Choosing the joyous and merry Christmas season for your wedding is a stunning a thrilling experience. The festive spirit of Christmas and the loving atmosphere of winter will make the wedding a memorable occasion not only for you, who of course wouldn’t forget your own wedding occasion, but also your dear ones. Not only that, the Christmas wedding carries a few benefits as given below:

The main advantage is that as it is holiday season, you will have all who are close to you, like your family and friends, definitely by your side. So you can enjoy the event with a huge group of friends and family members, uncles and aunts making even the preparation a memorable one.

Another advantage of Christmas wedding is that you could get the most of your wedding shopping while the Christmas sales are on. Your wedding invitation can also be attached with a Christmas card to show that you want to double the gladness of the season by celebrating the birth of Christ and the beginning of your married life together.

You’re going where on a cruise? Alaska? It’s going to be a bit chilly up there, isn’t it? You want to be careful with those polar bears as well; they get a bit nasty when they are hungry.

If you are thinking about going on an Alaska cruise then a lot of people you speak to you probably won’t know an awful lot about it and might give you some rather off putting opinions on it. You might not be all that clued up yourself on what to expect, so below you will see a quick list of some of the main features of this kind of trip.

Natural Beauty

Alaska is a massive state and it has some of the most unique landscapes on the planet. On this kind of cruise you can simply sit back and enjoy the sights as they glide past you. There is a lot of wildlife here as well. There is no guarantee that you will catch a glimpse of whales, bears or reindeer but you will enjoy looking out for them on your journey. Apart from this, you can enjoy watching some amazing glaciers and vast, seemingly endless landscapes. If you want to be impressed by a huge and overwhelming natural expanse then you won’t be disappointed in Alaska.

A Bit of Sun?

It isn’t always chilly in Alaska you know. During the summer months you could enjoy some really rather pleasant temperatures. If you go at this time of year you will also enjoy sunlight until late at night, which means that you can enjoy a pleasant drink or an evening stroll around the deck while watching the last few rays of sunlight disappear. The variable weather here shouldn’t be much of a problem for anyone from somewhere like the UK, as they will already be used to the four seasons in one day type of weather. Anyone else should simply pack a bag of mixed clothes and embrace the changeable conditions as part of the region’s charm and uniqueness.

A Lot of Comfort

Any ideas about roughing it should be far from your head when you plan a cruise holiday to Alaska. You won’t be eating cold beans straight from a tin or shivering under a moth eaten blanket at night. These cruises are all about seeing a spectacular landscape while enjoying a lot of comfort at the same time. Amazing food, comfortable cabins and friendly service will all ensure that you can simply relax and treat this as one of the experiences of your lifetime. If you really want to treat yourself and your family to one of the best trips ever then this has got t o be well up on the list. Just imagine all of sitting together under the evening sun looking out for whales and looking forward to another night or entertainment and relaxation. Suddenly the world of commuting to work, watching the same old programmes on television and doing the dishes is going to seem very, very far away indeed.

An eagle swoops overhead, its vast wingspan silhouetted against the morning sun. A trained eye surveys the land below, anticipating any sudden movement.

Deep in the canyon beneath, the Colorado River runs its relentless course through Grand Canyon National Park, carved through the ages by this vein flowing through Arizona. As the sun climbs the morning sky, flooding the valley with light, the ground temperature rises and the creatures of the valley begin their daily quest for survival.

The immense scale of the Grand Canyon is difficult to comprehend. At its peak, the side walls plummet 1500 m (5000 ft) down to the river. At its broadest the canyon extends up to 29 km (18 mi) wide and overall the complex stretches over 446 km (227 mi).

The Grand Canyon is perhaps Americas most recognisable landmark. The region is a magnet for tourists, attracting over 5 million visitors each year. Nobody fully appreciates the landscape until they have experienced it for themselves.

From the Colorado River, deep in the canyon floor, layer upon layer of rock becomes noticeable, stacked like pancakes, each one representing millions of years of evolution. Tiers of lime and sandstone stand excavated by the river, wind and sands of time.

Above the canyon, the temperature in the plateau area ranges from one extreme to another. Down on the canyon floor, temperatures can exceed 100F, though winter frosts are rare.

Its surprising to imagine anything living in this hot and arid land far from the river, but the valleys are bursting with life. Plants and animals cling precariously to the vertical cliff faces, every nook and cranny bustling with activity.

Deep on the valley floor, the creatures scurry around, living their own rat race. The park is home to a wide variety of animals including the unique Grand Canyon pink rattlesnake. Ringtails, beavers and chipmunks are all widespread. Hundreds of bird species have made their home in the park, as well as countless insects and arachnids.

The canyon communities have their own pecking orders. Here, in this parched and hostile land, the food chain provides a delicate balance between survival, or finishing as dinner for those in the hierarchy. The environment is uncompromising and evolution has chosen its few.

In the distance, the eagle glides effortlessly over the broad crevasse. A sudden change in direction and the predator is racing to the ground at speed. Moments later, an unfortunate rodent has become breakfast.
